This Week

Monday make a plan.
Tuesday walk the path.
Wednesday clean spick-and-span.
Thursday do the math.
Friday play.
Saturday see a matinee.
Sunday pray.
My weeks are filled
with happy days.

    Do you have certain days of the week that you do things?  What day do you do your laundry?  Change your sheets?  Have a music lesson?  Shop for groceries?  Do you have a day when you sit down to plan?  What is your favorite day of the week?  Of this week?  Can you write a poem about your favorite day?  Have fun writing.

Goodness,
gracious,
it has been a busy week.
Now it's Saturday,
and it's quiet I seek.

    I have been so busy this last week even I can't believe everything I've been able to accomplish.  So I'm taking a day off--actually, I took today off.  And it is your turn.  If you want to write a poem today, you chose the subject and the form.  Me, I'm going off to sleep.  Have a good night.  Thanks for following my blog.

Saturday

Saturday is 
my big day.
It is when I
get to play.

I change my sheets,
clean my room.
Then it's off 
with my friends
I'm gone.
Zoom.

Today I think
I'll fly a kite,
ride my bike,
or take a hike.

Don't really care
what I do today,
whatever I do
I'll have fun--It's Saturday.

Red tail hawk circles
blue skies overhead,
he flares his tail,
boy, it's red.

Making lazy loops
on this Saturday
is how I feel
as I go on my way.

     Happy Saturday.  I hope you are having a good day.  This poem really needs a better end line.  I'm going to have to work on that, but I did explain I'm feeling loopy-lay today--so that is how I wrote.  So many things to do today.  All the weekend chores are waiting for me.  I hope you can find time to write today.  Can you imagine what the picture for this poem will look like?  Now, go write your own poem and if you want to share it you can place your poem in the comments below.  I'd love to read it.

SATURDAY CHORES

Today I'll change my sheets
and tidy up my room.
I'll put my toys away
and get the job done--zoom.

I'll straighten all my books
and put clean clothes away.
I'll do all my chores,
It's Saturday, cleaning day.

Woke up this morning
there on my deck
a snake was sleeping
and causing heck.

The dog was barking,
the cat hissed to say,

I put on my shoes

and go for a run.

     I'm going to a Family Fun Poetry program at the Poetry Center in Tucson, AZ today.  Sure wish you were here to go with me.  I'm definitely going to have a great Saturday.  I hope your day is fun too.

The thought just hit me that I could put on my shoes and do other things:

Post Party Fatigue

     WOW!  What fun I had yesterday with our poetry party.  Everyone had great suggestions for people, birds, and even a chair and a piano to go into the family reunion photo.  Thank you to everyone who made a contribution to the party.
We really need to figure out how to do some readings of the poems from THE POETRY FRIDAY ANTHOLOGY.                   
     Sylvia Vardell and Janet Wong, thank you for such a fun collection of poems.

the guests have left.

I'm feeling sad

and slightly bereft.

     Do you like parties?  Many parties in Tucson have pinatas. What do you think the pinata for a poetry party would look like?  I know what would go inside--sweets, good words and great lines for poems.
    I keep an idea bowl on my desk.  I cut interesting words and phrases from magazines when I see them and put them in the bowl.  On days when I can't think about what to write,I grab some words from the bowl and see if I can fashion them into a poem.  Do you keep and idea bowl, jar or envelope to help you write poems?
   The poetry challenge for today is to write a poem about how you feel today.  Are you happy, sad, busy, tired, delighted,or just plain punked?  Have fun writing.  It doesn't have to be long just try to write something.

Fourth Street Fair

Hey, it's Saturday.
I want to play.
I'm going to
the Street Fair today.
I'm all ready.
Yeah!

 The street fair was really crowded.
 folks came from everywhere.
 Craft, and art
food and friends
were all out on our street.

Notice the mountains in the background and it was very warm yesterday so lots of people were in shorts.

 There were artists
painting pictures.
And people exploring art.

 But most of all we
just walked the street
looking at all
the new things
to meet.

 The stores along Fourth Street
set out balloons
and their best wares.

Goods and wares,
wish you had been there
to be with with me
to ooh and aah
over all we'd see.
