Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

THE AMAZON

Our guide chews
a short, fat cigar
between his teeth.

He says the tobacco
keeps mosquitoes
away.

He strikes a match,
puffs
a strong, stinky cloud.

I wish I was that mosquito
so I could
fly away.

  1. Joy,
I love your sense of humor. I imagine we'd all wanted to fly away from something at times. Are you on the Amazon, for real?
