Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Monkey in the Rainforest

In the rain-forest
jungle vines quiver and shake
a squirrel monkey

When was the last time you wrote a haiku?  How about trying one today?
This haiku is written in the American form of 5-7-5--with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second and 5 in the third.  The haiku should also be about nature.
Summer is a great time for being outside with nature and writing haiku.  Have fun.

  1. Joy,
How fortunate you were to see so many different kinds of monkeys. Wow! Seems like he could be called a banana monkey since he's yellowish.
