Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Standing High

Mommy doesn't like it
when I stand upon a chair
she's worried that I may fall
standing way up there.

Me, I want to see the world
from her point of view.
To ponder what is way up there
that looks to me so new.

Yuck, this stinks--but I'm in a hurry today.  I promise that I'll come back and visit this little poem and fix it later when I have more time.  But the important thing is to get something down today.
As a child, I loved going vertical.  I hope my mom didn't know about the times I'd climb on the roof and just sit there watching the world pass by our neighborhood--she would have had a fit, I'm sure.  My husband doesn't do to well with heights.  He's always worried he'll fall, so I'm the one that does ladder things in our family.  for some reason, I'm more steady on my feet.  That applied to learning to ski and water ski.  It wasn't till I got a lot older that I started noticing balance.  Do you like doing things that require balance?  Can you write a poem aobut one of the things?

  2. Hi Joy,
I like that you're trying to see the world from mom's perspective or point of view. Nothing that stinks here!
