Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

I'm Sorry

Sue, Sue,
What do you do,
if you step on the toes
of a kangaroo?

Well, you say
I'm sorry, of course.
What else can you say?
Speak up quick
'fore he hops away.

Fred, Fred,
What can be said
when you knock
my hat from my head?

Well, you say
I'm sorry, of course.
What else can you say?
Speak up quick
'fore my hat blows away.

Ray, Ray
what do you say
when putting on
a Hawaiian lei?

Well, you say
Aloha, of course.
What else can you say?
Speak up quick
'fore she hulas away.

I've been having fun today matching names with actions.  I started with things to say please and thank you about.  Can you write your own mannerly poem today?  Or can you write a verse using your own name.  Have fun writing.

  2. Thanks Linda, I could do one for "hello" and one for, "good bye,' and so many other things.

  3. Joy,
Great idea! This would make a writing workshop with kids. They could add verses with their names and then put it together for all to enjoy! I can imagine you leading it.

    1. Thanks for the compliment. I do need to get back into the classroom with the kids. I do miss them. Working with children certainly does help my poetry writing. We ALL need more time to write poetry.
