Counting Balloons

Children in the park
with balloons
orange, blue, green.

How many balloons can be seen?
One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight, nine, ten
eleven, twelve, thirteen
and fourteen.

Happy Saturday.  I've counted the balloons several times and come up with 14 each time, but maybe you'll see the picture differently.  What is your favorite color of balloon? Can you write a poem about that?

  1. Joy,

Did the children buy these from a vendor or did they bring them with them? Wonder what was the celebration. There's a story behind the picture. Wonder what it is?

  3. Linda,
It was Friday early afternoon and the children had just come from a church day care center across the street. There was a big town celebration scheduled for that night to celebrate the crowning of their Miss Moltonado, but like you I wondered how almost 20 children (there were more children not shown in this picture)could all appear in the park with nice fat balloons. I wondered too what the children were celebrating. My answer was it was probably some child's birthday.
