HAIKU

Red pussy willows
bursting from a crystal vase
Chinese fireworks

I'm having technical problems with my server and so my posting is going to be messed up for a week.  Please be patient and I'll explain it all next Tuesday.
In the meantime, I was in a garden today and my host explained the garden had been designed to include all the natural elements.  Water in the form of ponds and small waterfalls, rocks used to form a dragon wall and walking paths, wood for trees, and sky to let the sunshine in.  Do you have a favorite garden you like to spend time in?  If you could design your own garden,  what would you include?  Can you write a garden poem today?  Oh, I'm thinking about making mine a fairy garden.  do have fun writing a poem today.

  1. Joy,
This simple scene speaks breath-taking beauty. Is there a photo for those who'd like to gaze on the real thing?

    1. Linda,
I'd never seen colored pussy willows before so I thought these were neat looking. I want to find some to try the capillary action of dying them. The Chinese New Year is in the middle of February, so places are starting to be decorated for the holiday. There is a lot of red and gold every where. But both of our hotels--The Pullman in Shanghai and the St. Regis in Beijing had vases of these red pussy willows. Sorry the photo isn't better. This is the best I could do.

    2. Thanks for the photo. I have seen flowers colored this way, but never pussy willows. What a great experience you had. So happy for you!

  3. Hi, Joy.That dragon wall sounds like a poem in and of itself. My favorite part of our garden is dark blue clematis that climbs up the slats of our back deck. It's just gorgeous.

    1. Clematis makes such a beautiful show. But I've heard three different pronunciations of the word which makes it tricky to use in a poem. We had a beautiful dark purple clematis that grew up our mailbox when we lived in North Carolina. The big pink ones are gorgeous too.
