Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

BUZZ BUZZ

Bumble bee buzzing
pollinates the lavender
all the world a buzz

Today's poem is a traditional three line haiku with (5/7/5)  17 syllables.
Want to try writing your own haiku today?  Have fun.

My friends at the North Carolina Haiku Society have an exciting project on display at the NC Botanical Garden.  See the photos and read more haiku at their web site.   Click on their name above.

  1. How's this? Cow Appreciation Day is June 13, 2012. A free meal for all who visit in cow costumes. Joyce Hostetter blogged about it and I piggybacked with a blog of my own and now this. Not your standard haiku, I know. I hope you don't mind.

    Visit Chick-fil-A
Wear black and white spots and eat
    til the cows come home.

  2. Oh, Linda!
    This had me laughing.
Did you see the poetry column in this month's Writer's Digest? Philip Lee Brewer's column Poetic Asides does a nice job explaining Tanka and the modern line lay-out, which is pretty cool.

  3. Joy,
I'm glad I had you laughing. I'll look for the article. I don't get that magazine.
