Goldfinch

A little yellow goldfinch
perched on the bird feeder,
sang a happy tune.
The seed is all I need here.

The goldfinch took a seed
and cracked it with his beak.
Tweet-tweet, tweet-tweet.
Here, there is plenty to eat.

This poem uses lots of assonance.  Can you find all the long E sounds?  Do you like watching birds?  I do and there are lots of birds around now as they start their migration.  Can you watch a bird and write a poem about it?    Let your verses soar.

  1. Plenty to eat...cute ending. I expected him to say something like "Where can I find more?" See you surprised me. I like surprises.

  2. Thanks. Linda, I like surprises too.
So what is your favorite bird? I think it is amazing, no matter where you live, you'll find birds. No wonder early pioneers wanted to fly like birds. They do provide inspiration.
