Welcome

This is my playground for poetry written for children with ideas and inspiration for writing your own poems. Come on in. Sit for a spell, have a cup of words to swirl around and make your own cup of poetry. I'm so glad you are here. I hope you'll find the Kingdom of Poetry a fun place to be.

Little Fish

One little fish
swam in his dish.
He blew bubbles
and made a wish.

All he wanted
was another fish
to swim with him
in his little dish.

Another fish
came one day
to blow bubbles
while they played.

Two little fish
blowing bubbles
in the dish.
Swimming around
singing
plish, plish, plish.

This is definitely a pet poem.  Can you write a poem about your pet?  Use your five senses to tell me what he looks like, sounds like, smells like, feels like.  Have fun and find a friend (me?) to share your poem with.
Do you like blowing bubbles?

  5. Dear Joy,

    What a beautiful poem!

I am based in India and currently involved in creating a collection of stories for Pre-primary children. The project is part of our learning products offering for children in small cities in India. Most of the children belong to communities where exposure and access to child-friendly print and digital media is limited. While putting together this collection of stories, our aim is to develop a love for reading, to help children love stories thereby focus on developing English language proficiency and socio-emotional skills.

We would love to include this poem in the collection for our 4-6 year-olds. Please let me know what is the best way to connect with you to seek permissions.

    Looking forward to your response,
    Ashima
