Pete Repeats

fingerpaint, copyright 2014

I have a pet parrot.
His name is Pete.
The only word he knows
is repeat, repeat.

I introduce my parrot
to everyone I meet,
but all Pete says
is repeat, repeat.

How many different kinds of birds can you name?  Can you write a poem about a bird today?  May your poem soar.

  1. Joy,
Is Pete a Christmas gift? It looks like he is standing by a Christmas tree. Did he love the day so much that he kept saying, "Repeat, repeat?" If so, it reminds me of "Ground Hog Day." Fun!
Does he love meeting new friends so much he says, "Repeat, repeat?" What a compliment to friends. This is clever in many ways, my poet friend.

    1. Actually, the plant is a blooming succulent--but I love the idea of a Christmas present bird. There may be a picture book here. Perhaps at the end of the story Pete learns a new word. I wonder what that would be?
